What we check, and what we do not
A marketplace that overstates what it guarantees is one people stop believing. This page is the honest version.
What we check
Every owner and every renter submits a national ID and a driving licence; owners also submit a logbook and their insurance certificate. A reviewer reads each one, checks the expiry, matches the ID name against the logbook, and looks for the same document on another account. Approval or rejection comes with a written reason code.
What we do not check
We do not physically inspect vehicles, and we are not an insurer. The cover shown on a listing is what the owner declared and we saw a certificate for — it is not a guarantee that their policy covers commercial hire. Ask the owner directly, and satisfy yourself before you drive.
Your money
Go Kazi never holds rental money, a deposit, or a commission. The renter pays the owner at handover, in whatever way the two of them agree. The only money we collect is our own one-time registration fee from owners.
Your phone number
The two parties never exchange numbers through Go Kazi. Before a booking is confirmed there is only chat; afterwards, a leased number bridges calls and texts for the trip. Either party can trigger an emergency reveal at handover — it discloses both numbers, and it is recorded.
Evidence
Check-in and check-out capture the same six angles, the odometer and the fuel level, timestamped by our server rather than by a phone. Both sets are shown side by side to both parties and to any reviewer, which is what answers “that dent was already there”.
When something goes wrong
Report a no-show, non-payment, an unsafe vehicle or abuse from the booking. A reviewer investigates and, where a report is upheld, downgrades the account's standing — recorded with the reason and the reviewer's identity. A suspended account cannot request or accept bookings. We can publish what we believe happened; we cannot compensate anyone, because we hold nothing.
Your data
Document images are held only until verification resolves, then deleted — the extracted fields and the outcome remain so a decision stays explainable. ID numbers, licence numbers and KRA PINs are encrypted. Nothing is served from a public link: document and inspection images are reachable only through short-lived signed URLs.
